ABOUT MY WORK

What’s your style of photography? +

I am passionate about recording the moments as is so I take a very documentary/lifestyle approach to photography… which basically means I enjoy real, candid, and unscripted shooting. Even though we will be posing for our formals and portraits, we’ll have a more relaxed set of photos. I like to joke with my clients that because I am small, I can blend in the crowds to photograph their friends’ most embarrassing moments!

What qualifies you to be our photographer? +

Let me tell you this, I love ‘love’ and I celebrate every small thing in life. I am a very family person with a few close friends; and although I am inherently a social person, I enjoys the comforts of being a hermit with my husband over the weekends.

My career is not just my work; it’s the happiness I get when I shoot every frame through my camera. I get emotional when a mother adorns her daughter in jewels, a son tying his father’s tie before stepping out, the couple’s first dance, and their siblings celebrating them like there is no tomorrow.

Growing up in the UAE meant a lot of exposure and an understanding for all the cultures who live here. Guarding respect for traditions, customs and privacy is a must! I love seeing couples celebrate their union in their own ways and sharing it with their most important ones. It’s just the little things in life that is to be celebrated, and being a small part of your big day is an honor that cannot possibly be put in words.

With all that being said, I do hope our paths cross in the near future!

Do you shoot alone? +

If the occasion calls for it. For weddings and other events, I shoot with my little sister Sabira and we make the perfect team! She’s been assisting and eventually shooting with me since the start of my journey and I cannot imagine a perfect wedding day without her.

Can I book a consultation with you? I don’t know what I need! +

Always! I consider consultations a friendly meeting where my clients get to know me and I get to learn more about them - their love for each other and what makes them tick. It’s a good way to know where they are from, what customs and traditions they want to bring in and enjoy listening to what they imagine their wedding day will be like. If time allows, I also take a further step of visiting them in person at their venue so we can pretend to walk through their wedding day. This helps structure the day in my mind and theirs, also bringing in some advice on lighting and timelines. A good consultation session ends in understanding their family dynamics, a rough structure of their day, and their investments that need to be recorded in their wedding photos.

Why don’t we talk about yours? Let’s book a consultation to discuss your wedding day!

BEFORE THE WEDDING DAY

How far in advance do we need to book? +

That would depend on the month! In the UAE, December - March is typically the wedding season. I take bookings up to a year in advance, so if you’re planning to tie knot in those months, it’s best to not delay! I limit the number of weddings I take per year to assure my attention is with each couple.

Your date isn’t reserved until you officially book me as your photographer. It’s always best to complete your booking as soon as you’re sure I’m the one for you. A signed contract and a retainer (30% of the cost of your chosen collection) are due to reserve your date.

How many hours of coverage do you provide? +

The selection of packages range from 4 to 8 hours depending on how much coverage a weddings needs.. The vast majority of weddings I shoot are 8 hours, usually starting around 1pm-2pm and finishing around 9pm-10pm. Additional hours can be extended at extra charge.

What are your rates? +

Get in touch with me through email to receive a copy of my wedding collections. You can also read here about the experience you’ll have when you’re working with me.

Are your rates flexible? +

Out of respect and love to all of my clients who pay full price, my rates are not flexible. I do, however, offer easily customizable packages per your need, which means that we can certainly sort out wedding day coverage that works with your budget.

We’re having a small wedding with limited guests, and only need a photographer for a couple of hours. Is this something you offer? +

I love small weddings and enjoy a good hearty celebration! I offer hourly rates for more intimate events and can definitely cater to your needs. Please get in touch so we can talk options!

Do you offer discounts for weekday weddings or off-season weddings? +

No matter the day of the week or month of the year, all weddings are the same amount of work and are therefore all charged at the same price.

Are we able to change the details of our wedding day coverage as our wedding day approaches and we have a better grasp of our timeline? +

Totally! As we get closer to your date, a lot more things will become clearer and easier to visualize. I’m happy to look over your itinerary and discuss what a similar photo agenda would look like. It’s always a good idea to be over prepared with details so we make sure we photograph everything and miss nothing!

Are you bilingual? +

Besides English, I speak my mother tongue that is Bengali and my husband’s language that is Urdu/Hindi. I am teaching myself French and can do very little in Arabic.

What type of payments do you accept?

For the ease of convenience and record keeping, I prefer e-payment through bank transfers. I also accept cash and cheques. Unfortunately I’m not able to accept credit cards at this time.

FOR THE WEDDING DAY

How does a wedding day work? When do we have time to do our private session and can we get some photos with our families? How do I know how much time to leave for photos? This timeline is stressing me out! +

Trying to sort out a wedding day timeline can definitely be rough, you want everything in place to catch the perfect sun light and to make sure your guests have eaten so they can dance all night long. I get it. I’m certainly here if you need help in the ‘Planning The Day’ department. I can walk you through how I plan my photo-timeline and we will breakdown the day for details, getting ready, family, couples, groups shots etc. I’m happy to help any way I can!

When do you recommend we start and end? I want to make sure we’ve got everything covered! +

This truly depends on the wedding that you are having. Larger weddings need a longer coverage while smaller, more intimate weddings can get away with fewer hours. Also, Western and European weddings start around 2:00pm and can lead up till 10:00pm on the dance floor, while Arab Levant wedding and Indian weddings could start their dance floors at 11:00pm. The aim of our photography is definitely to make sure we capture everything you’ve invested your time, emotions and finance in, so if you need help planning a timeline, just reach out!

I don’t enjoy posing and I feel extremely uncomfortable in front of the camera. Can you help? +

I don’t like posing either, so I totally get it! I can assure you that there’s nothing to worry about because we’re going to just have fun with it! It’s my job to ease you into it until you feel like you’re a natural. I try to meet my clients in person as well before their wedding day and if possible, I always encourage opting for an engagement session too. This is a fun little time for us to unwind and become comfortable in front of the lens. If we don’t get to do this earlier, no fret! We’re going to ease into the day - with me directing your gaze, your hands, and your stance. And the rest of the day when we’re not together, I’ll be taking your candids, you’ll feel like a celebrity!

Are you the photographer that will be shooting my wedding? +

A 100% YES! Because I thoroughly enjoy sharing this experience with my clients, I am always the one photographing my weddings. However, in the few cases that there may be budget constraints, I will send out my trained second shooters who will take lead at your wedding. We will make sure all is set and ready photographically for your big day. You can rest assured that you’ll get similar results at a budget.

Do you bring a second shooter? +

Not always but if the occasion requires it! 90% of my work is with my little sister, Sabira who assists and shoots with me. You won’t find a discrepancy in our work, and your event is going to look fantastic!

AFTER THE WEDDING DAY

How long after the wedding do we have to wait to get our photos? +

It can take take between 8 to 10 weeks though the length of time depends on the size of your wedding, length of day and time of year.

How will we receive our photos? +

Once your photos are ready, you will receive a link to an online password protected gallery with all of your finished photos. You can batch download all of your images as high-resolution digital files and web-sized images. In addition, the gallery will allow you to mark images private should you chose to share the gallery link online with friends and families.

How many photos should we expect? +

I don’t provide an expected number of photos with my collections because each wedding is so different and thus the number of photos always vary. It would depend on things like the size of your party, number of guests, required logistics, number of photographers, etc. to know how many photos you will end up with.

What happens to the photos that we don’t get? +

I am a strong believer that all your wedding photos belong to you. I don’t limit myself to a certain number of photos, instead I provide you with every single photo that was taken (that being all the good ones! - no duplicates, mistake shots, etc.) I spend time selecting each and every photo we took together and narrow it down to the very best ones before I start working on them. So you best believe, all your pictures will be picture perfect!

Will you be posting images of our wedding on your website, Facebook, Instagram, etc..?

Yes, I will likely share some of your images online. If this is an issue for you please let me know ahead of time.

MORE THAN JUST WEDDINGS

Do you offer engagement sessions? +

Absolutely and this is one of my most favorites sessions to shoot! However like my wedding albums, only my premium collection includes a complimentary engagement session. Sessions can be bought separately as an add-on; however, for the couples who want to book me as their wedding photographer, I offer a discounted price on my engagement sessions.
We are planning a destination wedding, will you be willing to travel?
I’m definitely happy to travel to wherever your wedding is taking place! Shoot me an email and let’s get talking! I’ll be happy to give you a quote!

Do you offer wedding albums? +

I love seeing my client’s wedding photos in print because there is something so real about something so tangible. For the reasons of being financially sensitive and catering to different budget needs, only my premium collection come with a wedding album. Should you wish to purchase an album, they can be done so as a separate add-on. Should you wish to purchase the album on a later date; it makes a wonderful anniversary gift too!

For my UAE clients, I make sure my albums are also handled by only-women printers so you needn’t worry! The albums are secured and kept private until they are dropped at your doorstep.

Do you use external lights? +

Here’s a secret, though I do own and use lights - it’s my least favorite thing to do. Besides being in-your-face, lights can be distracting and makes the guests very conscious of a photographer being present at all times. Additionally, as a documentary and lifestyle photographer, I like to use the ambient lights present to tell my stories. However I do set up lights if I absolutely must!

Since a lot of photography depends on the quality of light, I like to prepare my couples about lighting their venue to maximize their investments in setting the scene and mood for their wedding.

Do you offer other kinds of photography? +

Although my main focus is on weddings, I do offer event coverage for smaller gatherings, birthdays etc. I often do business and lifestyle sessions, family photos (oh the excitement to see my couples have a baby and grow just gets me so giddy!), and portraits. If you’re looking for any of these, feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll do what I can to help you!

Do you offer video? +

At the moment, not yet. My focus is currently capturing stills of your day; though I do wish to expand into film making soon. However, if you do want video, I am more than happy to manage one of me cinematography partners who I trust wholeheartedly and whose work matches my own.
